Alana’s Hives

Alana’s biodynamic honeybee colony in Grosse Pointe is offered rich pollination potential amid urban gardens. Local laws are beekeeper-friendly, allowing hives with some zoning oversight. Challenges include limited forage diversity, suburban pesticide use, and occasional community resistance due to density and misconceptions about bee behavior. Alana’s property, however, offers ornamental forage, with plans to install an edible and native garden in 2026/2027.
