Owned by Ann Delisi and Lisa Brancato, The Sprout House in Grosse Pointe Park is a cherished natural food market offering organic produce, handmade vegan fare, and local goods. The Sprout House champions sustainability, local farms, and pollinator health. Delisi’s community presence and passion for regenerative values make Sprout House a beacon of nourishment and neighborhood connection.

From a biodynamic view, installing honeybee colonies in Detroit, MI was an easy decision due to vacant lots and urban gardens brimming with pesticide‑free forage. Detroit’s ordinances are extremely beekeeping friendly. Challenges include limited continuous forage, public misconceptions about swarming or safety, and greater neighborhood density. Ann’s property is rich with native pollinator forage, hands down the client with the most densely planted property! As such, Ann’s bees are extremely happy and healthy, overwinter regularly, and is dubbed the “Swarm Factory” for her bees’ multiple and frequent swarms every spring. Given her lush yard, she frequently receives over 3 gallons of nutrient dense honey annually!

“Brad Gladstone/Urban Bee has opened this wondrous world of bees and beekeeping to me, and it’s changed how I think about food, the earth, and our connection to one another. Since 2019, Brad has been a patient teacher and has nurtured my hives with a deep, soulful knowledge of bees and how to care for them. Since their arrival, the bees have brought a quiet magic to my garden. Flowers bloom brighter, fruits are more abundant, and the whole landscape feels more alive. There’s a peace that now settles over the space, a gentle hum of life that brings calm to my days. Even my own sense of well-being has improved. This has been an exciting, transformative journey for which I will be forever changed and forever grateful.”

If you love bees, let's create a friendly place for them together
